Sustainability is a strong and important topic and starts in everyone's everyday life. Ultimately, it's about conserving resources and energy. We would like to briefly explain why you do this automatically when you buy from Original Räder.
Why a purchase at or24.de is already sustainable
The first point is obvious. As a dealer, we do not produce our own rims or tyres, but sell our main brands via our online shop. When purchasing, we only use existing alloy wheels or tyres and do not commission any production. By creating a second market, we continue to utilise the resources we already have and use.
We often have products on offer that have failed the meticulous quality controls of the major manufacturers. Often, for example, a minimal bearing mark or a small paint defect is enough for them to be rejected. The tolerances are sometimes kept very small. Nevertheless, the rim is technically 100% usable. The minor visual defects are usually not even noticeable at first glance. By purchasing original wheels, the rims are spared from being melted down with high energy expenditure and the consumption of production resources was not in vain. What's more, minor defects can be quickly repaired with a little manual labour.
As we offer used goods as well as new ones, many rims and complete wheels are given a facelift and thus a second "life". It is completely normal for rims to touch the kerb from time to time during use or for stone chips to lead to visual defects. This is no reason for us not to purchase such products. If our technical inspection does not reveal any restrictions, we repair such products very simply and in a much more resource-efficient way than producing new rims. They are then visually appealing again and ready for many more kilometres on the road.
The situation with tyres is similar to that of rims. With sufficient tread depth and appropriate tyre age, we see no reason to dispose of the tyres and order new ones. Why should we? We always endeavour to bring the substance and energy contained in such a tyre back onto the market for as long as possible, provided all safety-relevant aspects are right.
Mobility is important for all of us and will remain so in the future. Rims and wheels will therefore continue to play an important role in the coming decades, for example in the emerging electric vehicle market. Regardless of whether combustion or electric, it will always be our goal to give every product already produced a second or third life.
